Count My Tap · Tap Counter
This policy explains what the Count My Tap: Tap Counter mobile app ("the app") collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to the app only, not to any other site or service.
There is no sign-up and no account. Your counters, targets, notes, and history stay on your device — we never receive them and cannot read them. What does leave the device is anonymous usage measurement and, if you allow it, advertising data handled by Google.
Everything you create in the app — counter names, counts, targets, sets, session history, streaks, and your settings — is stored in the app's local storage on your phone. It is not uploaded to us or to anyone else. Uninstalling the app deletes it. Because we never hold a copy, we cannot restore it for you.
We use Google services inside the app. These collect data as described below.
| Service | What it collects | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics for Firebase | A randomly generated app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version, app version, approximate region derived from IP, and anonymous usage events (screens opened, a counter was created, a target was reached) | To understand which features are used, and to find crashes and dead ends |
| Firebase Remote Config | The same app-instance identifier, to fetch the app's configuration | To change settings and roll out features without shipping an update |
| Google AdMob | Your device's advertising identifier, IP address, and ad interactions (an ad was shown, tapped, or closed) | To show ads and to measure and prevent fraud |
| Google Play In-App Review | Handled entirely by Google Play when a review prompt appears | To let you rate the app without leaving it |
We never send free-form content you typed. Analytics events carry only fixed identifiers, booleans, and numbers — for example, which built-in template you picked and whether a target was set. Counter names and notes are deliberately excluded.
The app is supported by ads served through Google AdMob. Depending on where you are and what you have chosen, ads may be personalized (selected using your advertising identifier and inferred interests) or non-personalized (selected using only coarse context such as country and the app itself). Non-personalized ads still involve a limited amount of data for frequency capping, measurement, and fraud prevention.
Before the ad system starts, the app shows a Google-provided consent form asking whether you agree to personalized advertising. If you decline, personalized ads are not requested. You can change your answer at any time through the privacy options entry in the app's Settings screen.
Some state privacy laws treat personalized advertising as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out through the privacy options entry in the app's Settings screen. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly process the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16 for targeted advertising.
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at the operating-system level: on Android, Settings → Google → Ads; on iOS, Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Doing so breaks the link between your device and previously collected advertising data.
How Google uses data from apps that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone beyond the Google services listed above, which act as our processors or, for advertising, as independent controllers under their own terms. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the app against fraud or abuse.
Google processes data on servers in the United States and other countries. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and equivalent safeguards.
On-device data stays until you delete the counter or uninstall the app. Analytics data is retained by Google for a limited period under our Firebase project's retention setting; advertising data is retained under Google's own policies.
Data in transit to Google's services is encrypted with TLS. On-device data is protected by your phone's own app sandbox and, where enabled, device encryption. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Ad content is restricted to a general audience rating. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will address it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of targeted advertising — and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of them. Because the app holds no account, the fastest route to deletion is to uninstall the app and reset your advertising identifier. For anything else, email us and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required, ask for consent again in the app.
